Amanda May Lab

Welcome to the Amanda May Lab!

The May lab uses biological mass spectrometric techniques such as metabolomics to understand the metabolic impact of external, anthropogenic stressors on the environment. These objects can range from current contaminants, e.g., PFAS, microplastics, to studying the end-of-life impact of new biobased materials and even engineered nanoparticles. The current focus of the lab is looking at how both individual and a combination of contaminants impact the metabolism of rhizosphere microbiome species.

Research Goals:

Diagram demonstrating how microbial metabolism interacts with the current environmental landscape.
Piecing together microbial metabolism to illustrate the current environmental landscape.
